Luzhou Laojiao

Luzhou Laojiao is one of China’s most historic and celebrated baijiu producers, originating from Luzhou in Sichuan Province, a region renowned as the birthplace of strong-aroma (Nongxiang) baijiu. With traditional brewing techniques dating back to 1324, Luzhou Laojiao represents more than 700 years of continuous craftsmanship passed down through 24 generations.

At the heart of its heritage are the legendary 1573 National Treasure Cellars, first established during the Ming Dynasty and continuously used for more than 450 years. The microorganisms cultivated within these ancient fermentation pits play an important role in creating the distinctive richness and aromatic complexity associated with Luzhou Laojiao.

Recognised as a pioneer of strong-aroma baijiu, Luzhou Laojiao helped establish the production techniques and standards that have influenced the category across China. In 1952, it was named one of the original Four Famous Baijiu of China, alongside Moutai, Fenjiu and Xifeng.

Today, Luzhou Laojiao combines centuries-old craftsmanship with modern innovation, bringing the distinctive character of Chinese baijiu to consumers around the world.
