2024 Kweichow Moutai London Mid-Autumn Celebration Event
The Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the most significant traditional festivals for the Chinese community, not only symbolises reunion but is also steeped in poetic significance. This year, Jazz Trading, the largest baijiu distributor in the UK, teamed up with the renowned Mei Ume restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel London to host a grand Mid-Autumn dinner featuring Kweichow Moutai. This event offered London guests the opportunity to savour Chinese baijiu, accompanied by a specially curated menu crafted by Mei Ume’s acclaimed chef and bespoke cocktails, allowing attendees to fully experience the unique charm of Mid-Autumn cuisine.
This event was one of the most important celebrations organised this year by Jazz Trading and Kweichow Moutai. We were honoured to invite esteemed guests from various sectors in London, including managers from well-known restaurants and bars, sommeliers, mixologists, beverage merchants, scholars from top universities, finance professionals, and influential social media personalities, all coming together to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. This year’s Moutai Mid-Autumn dinner not only allowed guests to indulge in exquisite food and drink but also featured captivating traditional Chinese performances, including Miao ethnic dances and instrumental music from the Erhu, Dizi, Guzheng, and Sheng. We also arranged the traditional Mid-Autumn game of “Guessing Lantern Riddles”, providing British guests with a deeper understanding of the essence of Chinese culture while enjoying traditional baijiu and culinary delights.

One of the evening’s standout features was the bespoke Moutai cocktail, the Peach Cloud. This cocktail cleverly combined Moutai Prince baijiu, pink grapefruit, and peach syrup, enhanced with lychee foam to harmonise with the rich flavours of Moutai, presenting a delicate pink appearance that won the hearts of many guests.

In addition to the delightful Peach Cloud cocktail, Chef Peter from Mei Ume creatively incorporated Moutai into several dishes. Guests praised the Moutai Xiao Long Bao and Moutai Guinea Fowl, particularly enjoying the dessert—Moutai-flavoured parfait, which added a delightful surprise to the evening. The dishes, desserts, and cocktails seamlessly integrated Moutai’s flavour, and the feedback from guests regarding this extravagant feast was overwhelmingly positive and unforgettable.

Among these were two baked mooncakes: baked sesame and white lotus seed paste with salted egg yolk; and two snow skin mooncakes with matcha and taro flavours. This specially curated gift box not only allowed British guests to feel the festive atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival but also offered a taste of the holiday's unique charm through these Eastern delicacies.
